A Soft Place to Fall

In my garden I grow giant red poppies, yellow and orange Icelandic, pink and white Orientals and the little yellow poppies that grow in profusion in the lanes and hedgerows of my beloved Cumbria. While walking with my wife Joanna beside the ocean recently, I was thrilled to come across a magnificent display of white Matilija poppies. Despite the rain and sea mist sweeping over us from the West, I made a series of drawings that served as the basis for A Soft Place to Fall. -About Artist Simon Bull
